Sheaf

A Harvest alternative that works the way Harvest used to

If the 2026 pricing change made Harvest too expensive for your team, you have three realistic options. Here’s an honest look at each, including where Sheaf falls short.

What changed at Harvest

Harvest moved from a simple per-seat price to a base fee plus usage charges for active projects, clients and invoices. Teams with many small clients were hit hardest. Reported increases range from small bumps to more than 10x. This breakdown walks through the numbers.

Your options

Best forTrade-off
Stay on HarvestTeams with few active projects, or who need its integrationsCosts grow with every project, client and invoice
Toggl Track or ClockifyTeams who mostly need a timer and reportsDifferent workflow, and invoicing is a separate tool or paid add-on
SheafFreelancers and small agencies who liked Harvest’s timer, weekly timesheet and invoicesNew, and doesn’t yet have expenses, estimates, mobile apps or integrations

What moving to Sheaf looks like

  1. Create an account (free during beta).
  2. Create a personal access token in Harvest Developers and paste it in.
  3. Sheaf copies people, clients, tasks, projects and every time entry, with rates. Already-invoiced time stays invoiced.
  4. Keep both for a week if you like. Run the import again to pull in anything new, then switch.

Import from Harvest

Questions

What gets imported from Harvest?
Your people (with their rates and capacity), clients, tasks, projects (with rates and hour budgets) and every time entry with its notes and billable rate. Time Harvest already invoiced is marked as invoiced, so it never gets billed twice.
Does importing change anything in Harvest?
No. Sheaf only reads from Harvest with a personal access token you create. The token is used for the import and isn’t stored.
How long does the import take?
Usually a minute or two. A few thousand time entries take a little longer. You can run it again later to pull in anything new before you switch for good.
How much does it cost?
Sheaf is free while in beta. After beta it will be a flat price per person, with no fees per project, client or invoice. We’ll email you well before anything changes.
What doesn’t Sheaf do yet?
Expenses, estimates, mobile apps, online payments on invoices and integrations. If one of those is a dealbreaker for you, tell us and we’ll tell you honestly when it’s coming.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Every report exports to CSV with dates, people, projects, notes, hours, rates and amounts.
